Alumni Job Opportunities
The shrinking forests nowadays make many people think that the prospects of forestry jobs are not very promising. Employment opportunities for forestry graduates are considered very limited, which is why the forestry field is not popular among students pursuing higher education. In reality, Indonesia still has forests, although most of them are located within conservation areas and industrial plantation forests. In these forest areas, many forestry graduates can shape their future.
Forestry graduates are projected to be able to work as managers, facilitators, entrepreneurs, and land (environmental) managers. These skills can be applied in various fields of work such as the following:
Civil Servants: Forestry graduates can work in various government institutions such as the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, National Land Agency (BPN), Ministry of Finance, National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), Consultants, Technical Departments in local governments (Forestry Offices, Regional Development Planning Agencies, Environmental Agencies, etc.).
State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) and Private Sector: State-owned enterprises that require employees from forestry graduates include Perhutani, Inhutani, and Perkebunan Nusantara. In the private sector, forestry graduates can work in various private companies such as PT. Valey, PT. Antam, and various other companies. The banking sector is also open to forestry graduates because these graduates are equipped with relatively good analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative.
Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs): In most NGOs, it is very easy to find forestry graduates working there. This is very common because with the critical condition of Indonesian forests, it requires the involvement of volunteers from NGOs, especially in the forestry sector. Forestry graduates can work in NGOs as facilitators or community organizers, research institutions at the national level (LIPI, BPPT, etc.) or international level (CIFOR, ICRAF, AGFOR, WWF, BirdLife Indonesia, PROFAUNA, BAKTI, etc.).
Other fields that can be pursued by forestry management graduates include forestry consultants, environmental consultants, and more.
